Great for a NR; Good for a DOR

So, my first stim check before the sun came up this morning was good, even great (yes, I'm trying to convince myself a little). It was great for a non-responder (NR) who during the last three IVF's would have already had a ginormous lead "follicle" (actually a cyst) on the right side and nothing on the left. And it was good in diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) terms, as we aim to get about half the number of typical responders (well, we aim for more, but in reality get about half if that many). With that said, they saw at least 2 follicles on the sleepy lefty ovary and 4 follicles on right ovary, with hopes that there were more that just weren't ready for their camera debut. The other good news is that they all appeared to be similar in size--no ginormo takeover here. So, we are pleased. Mr. ebc is far more excited than I am because of course while assuming they'd see badness, I was simultaneously hoping they'd see amazingness. But, given my last three cycles, I am grateful for what we got today. My first IVF cycle had 9 follicles with 5 eggs retrieved, but that was over a year ago which is a long time in the life of DOR'er; in addition, I don't remember (and don't really want to know) how many I had at the day 4 check--I'm thinking 7 maybe? Anyways, regardless of the past, still a good first stim check given my awful typical response.

ETA-Dosage increased. At least that shows our doc is actually thinking through our case, in my opinion,  as before my dose had always been left the same even after a crap stim check. Next stim check Monday am pre-sunrise.

  1. Good luck, girl. Fingers crossed. A friend of mine who's a slow responder just got a couple bonus follies on her second monitoring appt that weren't there at the first. Maybe you'll get a surprise too!
